Kids’ Corner: Drawing 101

I am showing to you my son’s creations. He loves to draw. Whenever he’s quiet, he is doing something like scribbling and drawing. At his age of 9, his creations are truly amazing. I know that you may find it ordinary, but for me his drawings are extra-ordinary. I myself can’t draw that kind when I was his age. 😉

Just keep on drawing Dom, I love seeing you loving the things that you do. Your papa and I are truly blessed to have a very talented kid like you.

Give Love on Christmas Day

Christmas is a season for giving, for sharing. At his very young age, we encourage our son to share something. So we prepared packed goodies for kids in the neighborhood. Since these kids love to sing Christmas Carols, Dom gave packed goodies to each of them. Making the kids merry this Christmas. By these simple gifts and gestures, they were very thankful to my son. Hopefully, we can prepare more packs each coming years.

To see our son happy with what he is doing, made our hearts jump with joy. And to see the kids happy when they received these goodies, made us even happier because our son’s effort is highly appreciated.

Beyblade Mania

Beyblade is back! Our 7-year-old son, came home from school and requested for a beyblade. Memories of our early years when beyblade phenomenon, sometime in year 1999 or 2000, was at the height came flashing back to us. Now the next generation is ready to play beyblades.

Our son was so happy to have his very first beyblade. This spinning top amazes him so much. He’s practicing how to launch his beyblade perfectly.

We bought him a Xeno Xcalibur.M.I. beyblade. It comes with a sword launcher.

The blade is magnificently designed by an excalibur sword with a cross sword in the middle. Unboxing this latest beyblade excites him a lot. Let your kids especially the boys experience the Beyblade Mania.

Kidzooona Experience

Yey! Kidzooona is here to bring happy memories to your children. Just like what my son experienced during his visit at Kidzooona. Seeing his happy smiles all the time while playing, made me feel that he is now growing up so fast and he should be having this kind of experience once in a while.

At the entrance of Kidzooona, I can already see Dominic’s excited face.

Witness how he enjoyed his 4-hour stay at Kidzooona. Here are some of his photos:

He rolled like a hamster. Overcoming his body weight to move this giant roller.

He played dress-up and acted as real sushi and burger boy. Dom was very happy, when a kid bought one of his burgers.

He swam in these thousand balls. Carelessly enjoyed the feeling of these balls touching his body.

See how Dom enjoyed Kidzooona. Visit them and let your child feel the wonderful feeling of being a child.

Petron Collectibles Limited Edition: Lamborghini Aventador

Boys will always be boys. And their love for cars is really undeniable. By the way my son looked at the two Lamborghini cars that we game him, his chinky eyes sparkled and his cute lips smiled sweetly, we know that he loved his new collectible cars. And not only that, I saw my husband’s childish interest over the new toys. He acted like a cute little boy and discovered how the thing works. Oh, I love seeing them like that, full of happiness and excitement.

These lovely Lamborghini collectible cars are available at all Petron Gasoline Station. Petron started selling these cars last November 15, 2015 and according to one of the stations, their promo will end only upto December 15, 2015. So, avid collectors of toys and stuffs, are now heading towards their nearest Petron Gas Station for them not to be left out.

We gave our son two Lamborghini cars, color black and white. There are also three more available colors: green, red and orange. The box is designed according to the color of the car. It has an authenticity seal with code (color gold and white) with text Automobili Lamborghini and Official Product Lamborghini as background. The text Petron Collectibles Limited Edition are also written on the black box. The Petron product that is featured in the box is the Petron Blaze 100 Detane Euro 4. At the bottom of the box, the instruction how the car works is shown with pictures.

How the car works (as printed on the box):

  1. Turn on the switch at the bottom.
  2. Touch the driver’s window to hear a start up sound with lights on.
  3. Touch the passenger’s window to hear a reviving sound with lights on.
  4. Touch the windshield and watch it go with acceleration sound and lights on.
  5. Touch the back panel and watch it drift backwards with the screeching sound.

Isn’t it amazing? You can enjoy the car by only touching it. This is another innovation made for toy cars for the enjoyment of kids nowadays. So what are you waiting for, grab one now for your kids and for your would-be-boys as well. 😉

Kid’s Corner: Dominic with his Tooth Fairy

Dominic is a very energetic kid. He loves talking to people and asking their opinions in everything that pops out of his curious mind. So, when it is time for us to take him to the dentist, as expected many questions were raised by our little big boy. I know he is worried, nervous perhaps, but he still managed to listen into every word that we say why he should visit a dentist. Now that he is already 5 years of age, his permanent teeth are beginning to show up but his milk teeth are still in place. So we decided to bring him to the dentist to remove his milk teeth which are now causing deformation on the new ones.

Here is how Dominic looks like waiting for his turn. He posed a bit but I can still that he is afraid of what will happen to him in the next minutes. He has to be brave to face his Tooth Fairy.

Dra. Carbonell introduced herself to my young man. She inflated 2 gloves to become balloons, just to make my son feel more relaxed. After a brief entertainment made by his dentist, he decided to have the procedure take place. In less than a minute, his tooth was removed. What a relief to see that my son didn’t cry for pain. He just asked a glass of water for him to gargle and spit the blood. Thank God! I have a brave son. See how contented he was after the procedure. I took a photo of him and his Tooth Fairy to serve as a remembrance of my son’s bravery.

And as promised, he had his ice cream after the visit. I can see in Dominic’s smile, that after a stressful moment, it is very rewarding to have a spoonful of ice cream on his mouth.

It is our obligation as parents to have our child’s teeth checked to avoid tooth decay. Take good care of your child’s teeth because he will thank you in the future to see his strong teeth.

Kids’ Corner: 5-star Reward in School

A single star shines brightly, how about 5 Stars? Five (5) stars stamped on the hands of my son mean a lot to him and to us, parents. We can see the transformation of our son’s smile whenever he receives a star or stars. His smile varies with the number of stars that he receives. The more he gets, the happier he gets of course. It is very rewarding also for us, that our son is giving his best in school. As a token for being good in school, a simple gift excites him.

Dom’s 5 stars

This manner of acknowledging the strength and capabilities of student really help in motivating them to do good in school. For us adults, counting 1 to 100 and reciting alphabets from A to Z may sound easy, but it is very hard for preschoolers who are just learning the basic things in life. So when their teacher stamped stars, great or good job sign on their hand, they feel that they have achieved something after a long day in school.

Like what Milo’s famous commercial tagline says, ‘Great things start from small beginnings’, these small achievements from our little ones can become great triumphs in the future. Molding and rewarding them as early as today, will have great impact on their personality and perception of life.

Don’t ignore everything that your children do. Nurture the gift and talent that they have. Parents should be their number one supporters, mentors and fans. Be proud of your kids! Let them shine like their stars. 😉

Kids’ Corner: Dominic Now Drinks Nestle Nido 5+

Nido’s mother’s day advertisement caught our hearts. Seeing how a grandmother loves her granddaughter dearly. That despite of naughty actions made by the kid, she still found goodness in all her actions. My 5-year-old son, Dominic, was a little hooked-up on this TV commercial, and said that he also wants to drink Nido for him to become the best kid that we want him to be. So with a bit of hesitation because Dom will be drinking Nido for the first time, we bought Nido 5+ for him. And luckily he liked it. Oh! Actually he loved it. He drinks milk twice in a day, one if before going to bed and the second one during breakfasts.

Adding to our recent interests over Nestle Nido is their newest celebrity endorser, Kristine Hermosa. We seldom see Kristine on TV, and seeing her on Nido Fortified commercial, make us happy because she has remained beautiful and classy. By any chance that she decided to return on films and TV shows, we, as her fans will really be jumping for joy. Thank you Nido for making Kristine and her son as your newest ambassadors.

From then on, we usually buy 1.2 kg of Nestle Nido 5+ to complete our son’s nutritional needs. We want the best for our son, so we are giving him the right milk for him. Give your child Nestle Nido and see his smile every time he drinks it.

Disclosure: This post is not affiliated with the above-mentioned product. Thank you. 😉

Kids’ Corner: Dominic’s Kindergarten Year (Kinder I) at Minds That Matter

Just this morning I attended the orientation meeting for parents conducted by the school directress of Minds that Matter, Teacher Amy. It’s my son, Dominic’s 3rd year in preparatory in Minds that Matter. 1 more year he will be in his elementary years.

Last year I posted Dominic’s Nursery Life at Minds that Matter, now, I will relate to you what happened to Dom in his Kindergarten year (Kinder I). School year 2014-2015 has been a tough year for our son. He was introduced into new and challenging experience like speaking in front of the crowd, delivering his memorized poem. At the early age of 4, he was tasked to deliver a very long poem entitled ‘The Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly’. At first glance, I was a bit nervous on how will our son manage to memorize a very long poem for a beginner. Perhaps, I understated my son’s capabilities, although he didn’t emerged as the winner, at least he finished the poem which is an achievement for a newbie in poetry recital.

Dominic’s Poetry Recital

Last year Minds celebrated their 10th anniversary. And as part of the celebration and Buwan Ng Wika celebration, the kids were dressed up into their favorite children costumes. And they were applauded for their magnificent presentations. I also made a write-up regarding that, Kids’ Corner: Helping Kids Conquer Stage Fright. We dressed up Dom as Rusell from the Disney movie Up. We were very pleased of our co-parents praises that the costume did match Dominic’s personality.

Dominic’s Rusell Costume

In academics, my husband and I were very happy that our son garnered an average of 89 to 90 for last school year, thus making him one of the Outstanding pupil in their class. So last graduation day, we had our chance to experience receiving an award for our son’s hardwork. Well done Dom!

Dominic’s Kinder I graduation

So far, our son is reading simple stories. He can also add numbers and is starting to master subtraction. He is only 5 years old, and I am very grateful to Minds for all the learnings and experiences he got. It will be a big bonus for our son’s educational journey to spend another year with Minds. I am pretty sure that when he enters grade school, he will be very equipped and ready to face a new chapter in his life. Thank you Minds that Matter and More power! Together, let’s make Dominic’s and the kids’ school year 2015-2016 a wonderful and fruitful one.

Kids’ Corner: Bedtime Stories

Bedtime story telling is usually done by mothers to their kids, in our family’s case, the father will take part some of the story telling nights. Before going to bed, my son will get some of his books and me or his father read it aloud for him. What we do in some of the books, we let our son read it first in the manner that he wants it and later we will just explain and correct some mispronounced words. He is only 5 years old and it is still acceptable if does not pronounce some of the words correctly. All we have to do as parents is to guide and teach them.

Father and son

Reading books take them into new worlds, new adventures. My son sometimes re-enact what is in the book. He role plays. He transformed into a superhero, a cute animal and a man of different profession depending on the story. By this acts, we knew that he loved the story and absorbed whatever values that was taught in it.

Parents should devote some of their precious time reading stories for their kids. This will be a very intellectual way of bonding with your children and at the same time, you will help them nurture the knowledge that they have. May it be night or day, if your kids ask you to read stories during your idle time, never hesitate to read one for them.
